Barcelona vs Real Madrid, postponed Spanish Clasico: blue and garnet club proposes to play on December 18 [PHOTOS]

The FC Barcelona has just informed that after receiving the resolution from the Competition Committee of the RFEF to definitively postpone the match against Real Madrid citing "exceptional circumstances," the Barcelona entity proposes "the date of December 18" for the classic to be played at Camp Nou.

In a press release sent this noon to the media, FC Barcelona explains that yesterday Thursday the Barcelona club "informed the Competition Committee of the RFEF of their refusal to play the match at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, as proposed by the Professional Football League."

"The Club's desire would have been to play the Clasico at Camp Nou on the 26th, as planned, and this was communicated in the letter of allegations submitted to the Committee. The Club has absolute confidence in the civic and peaceful attitude of its social mass, which always expresses itself in Camp Nou in an exemplary manner," adds the text.

As a consequence of the sentence of the procés, in which the Supreme Court has sentenced politicians and civilian leaders to prison terms, Catalonia is experiencing days of protest and much turmoil, with serious incidents in many cities, especially in Barcelona. Today, Friday, a general strike is called in Catalonia.

This tense situation led LaLiga president Javier Tebas to propose a few days ago that the Clasico, scheduled for October 26 at Camp Nou, be played at the Bernabeu, a proposal rejected by both clubs.

Barcelona concludes its statement with this position: "Having received the resolution from the Competition Committee of the RFEF to definitively postpone the match citing 'exceptional circumstances,' and given that it establishes that the clubs agree on a new date for the celebration of the match before Monday, the Club will propose the date of December 18."
