Fernando Roig, president of Villarreal, confirmed on Thursday, in statements to 'El Transistor' of 'Onda Cero', the proposal of LaLiga Santander to play the match against Atlético de Madrid in Miami on the sixteenth matchday of the championship, scheduled for December 7th or 8th.
"I don't know if it will come to fruition. I hope so. I believe it's good to export the Spanish League to such an important country like the United States, but it's just starting," explained Villarreal's director on 'Onda Cero' regarding the news revealed Wednesday night by 'El Confidencial'.
Both clubs have given their approval to the possibility of playing that match in the United States, although it still needs to progress and be authorized by the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).
"From Atlético's side, I don't think they objected to playing the match in Miami, and neither did Villarreal. We have to keep moving forward and reach a consensus. I would like to do it, but everyone needs to agree. Going against the current is not good. And if this is good for Spanish football, then it's good for everyone," he added.
Regarding Villarreal's fans, he said that different options are being considered and he believes they "will be fine".

In any case, the president of the Castellon club pointed out in 'El Transistor' that it is too early to anticipate anything. "We cannot explain anything because there is really nothing yet," declared Roig, who insisted: "I hope it happens".
