Tigers
Tigers failed to open Herediano's goal and gave away one point at El Volcán that didn't unsettle them from the first position in Group B of the CONCACAF Scotiabank Champions League.
Despite the value of the squad and the fact that the university team had its best players on the field, Ricardo Ferreti's team did not shine on a night when El Volcán was left wanting to explode.
The 12 shots on goal by Tigers and the two by Herediano in the ninety minutes mattered little. Gignac, Sobis, and Damm also did not make a difference. Tigers simply did not play clean and effective football and left a bad taste in the mouth of the more than 25,000 attendees at the University Stadium.
In the final minutes, Herediano put pressure on Tigers by taking advantage of the spaces the felines left in midfield. Fortunately for the Regia team, the Costa Rican team failed to capitalize on any of their opportunities and signed the away draw.
This result became the third draw in Tigers' history against Costa Rican teams, against which they have only been able to win once.
After the draw, Tigers secured the first position in Group B with eight points and their presence in the Quarterfinals, where they will already be joined by Mexican clubs America, Queretaro, and Santos who are already qualified for the next round.
Remember that for the Quarterfinals, the overall standings of the tournament are taken into account to define the semifinalists of the winners of the matches between the first place against the eighth, the second against the seventh, the third against the sixth, and the fourth against the fifth. All matches in the next round will be played in 2016.
