Valencia CF: Marcelino rules out influence of Rafinha, Rodrigo, and Kang-in Lee in dismissal

The Spanish coach Marcelino García Toral ruled out that the situations experienced in the transfer market with Rodrigo Moreno, Rafinha Alcántara, or Kang-in Lee had led to his dismissal as coach of Valencia CF.

The coach discredited the argument that he was dismissed due to a lack of opportunities for young players, something that president Anil Murthy hinted at this week, apparently referring to Kang-in Lee.

Debut of five young players

The Asturian coach reminded that five young players have debuted under him and that others like Ferran Torres, Carlos Soler, or José Luis Gayà have established themselves. "Kang In made his debut and is among the players in the top leagues with the most participation and minutes for his age. It puts in a bad light anyone who uses that argument to justify my dismissal," he explained.

"It seems absolutely inappropriate and unfair to take advantage of the situation of a young player with a great future to create a hostile situation for the coach, it says very little about the person who does it," he pointed out. He also dismissed that disagreements over the signing of Rafinha Alcántara were the cause of his dismissal.

Pact for Rafinha

García Toral insisted that his transfer was agreed with FC Barcelona, but Lim vetoed it and they understood his arguments, but also that he had accepted his arrival on loan and then changed his mind. "Maybe it was because he already thought that Marcelino would have little time left," he hinted.

García Toral said he understood the decision to sell a player of Rodrigo Moreno's importance but not to keep him on the market until the last minute and without bringing in an experienced replacement.

"I believe that he can transfer whichever player he deems appropriate, he is the owner and professionals must be prepared to solve it. We were ready. But what they were conveying to us is that if Rodrigo left, no other player would come or at least one that we believed would compensate for his huge loss," he added.

The Asturian coach said that once the transfer market closed, he was not sure if they could grow, but they could still aim for the fourth place objective, which would mean qualifying for the Champions League.
