The Atletico Madrid passed without difficulty at home the obstacle called Astana and thrashed 4-0 in the third round of the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.

Despite the thrashing, the team could have scored more goals, but they were inaccurate in most of the chances in front of the goal.

Saul Niguez broke the Kazakh team's lock with a heel flick in the 23rd minute, when Carrasco made the play inside the box to assist the Spanish player.

Then the Colombian Jackson Martinez scored and made his debut as an Atletico goal scorer in European competition. He controlled the ball inside the box with his back to the goal, turned around, shot and the ball deflected off a defender and the reaction of goalkeeper Nenad Eric could not prevent the goal in the 29th minute.

Oliver Torres scored the third goal with a chip shot over Eric's charge at 63rd minute. Torres is another 20-year-old gem, just like Niguez.

Astana had a couple of clear chances in the second half, one with Foxi Kethevoame, who couldn't control well inside the box and missed the opportunity, and then with a shot from Serikzhan Muzhikov, but Jan Oblak sent it over the crossbar.

Atletico missed more scoring chances throughout the game until in a play by Juanfran on the right, Denys Dedechko slid to cut the cross, but ended up scoring an own goal at the 90th minute.

The Madrid team reached six points in Group C, taking the lead of the group tied with Benfica, but with a better goal difference (+5 against +2). The Portuguese team lost in their visit to Galatasaray, which is third in the group with four points. Astana is at the bottom with one point.
