Peruvian Men's Volleyball Team Shines in South American Championship
The Peruvian men's national team defeated Venezuela 3-2 (22-25, 25-21, 25-21, 17-25, 16-14) in the first round of the South American Men's Volleyball Championship, showcasing not only determination but also a convincing game and great skills.
Eduardo Romay (19) and Álvaro Hidalgo (17) were the top scorers for Peru, but within the team led by Cuban coach Juan Carlos Gala, players like Daniel Urueña, Paul Williams, José Vargas, Benjamín Patrón, and Benny Bernaola also stood out. This Wednesday, the Peruvian team will face the host, Chile, aiming to deliver a knockout blow, as many of the players have in mind, and continue their pursuit of one of the four spots in the Pre-Olympic Tournament for Tokyo 2020.
