'Pep' spoke about the transfer policy of the 'citizen' club and the impossibility of "competing with other clubs". "We couldn't buy like the rest of the opponents or give teams what they asked for their players," Guardiola said. "Of course, we spent two seasons ago, but last season we only bought one player (Riyad Mahrez)."

For this season, City signed Rodri, Cancelo, Pedro, Porro, Angeliño, Steffen, and Mesinho, spending a total of 168 million euros. Regarding that budget, the coach stated: "This season was going to be just a little more, so we couldn't pay what the teams wanted."

In his three seasons in the Premier League, Guardiola has invested 762.3 million in signings. Although for this transfer window, 'Pep' acknowledged that the club set a limit for him. "The club told me: 'You have a limit and you can't go beyond it. Maybe in the future, but not now'. I said okay, that I wouldn't do it, and we haven't done it, so let's go with what we have, but sometimes, when that happens, the team comes together more, we are finding solutions to do that.
