The elimination of Argentina from the Copa America in the semifinals against Brazil, the accusation of Lionel Messi and the defense of the president of the AFA, Claudio Tapia, to the captain of the Argentine national team and the harsh criticism towards Conmebol has already received a response. The Argentine leader is no longer the representative of Conmebol before FIFA.
On Tuesday, after the meeting of the Conmebol Council, the decision made was made public, which is on the Conmebol portal as a response to the president of the AFA for the letter sent after the Copa America.
Mr. Claudio Tapia sent a note on July 3rd to be considered by the Conmebol Council. In response to that request, an extraordinary meeting of the Council was called, the only item on the Agenda of which was to analyze the terms of that note and listen to Mr. Tapia's "personal reflections".
Therefore, considering the seriousness of the expressions publicly made by Mr. Tapia, considering the position he holds and after having heard him at the present meeting called at his request, exercising its statutory powers, the Conmebol Council has resolved:
1. IMMEDIATELY WITHDRAW the trust from Mr. Claudio Tapia to exercise the interim representation of Conmebol before the FIFA Council.
