Diego Simeone, in an extensive telephone interview with Argentine channel TyC Sports, valued his work at the helm of Atlético and the possibility of leading the Argentine National Team at some point.
"Emotionally and sentimentally, I would like to manage the National Team now, but there are other situations that I analyze and value. It's been seven and a half years in a club with a project to change the history of the club as we are doing, some can understand it, others not. I feel very identified with Atlético."
And in this sense, regarding the Albiceleste, he emphasized: "My father asks me to coach the National Team. I believe that the AFA has made a good decision after the performance in the Copa America. There has been growth in the Qualifiers and it has been possible to see a team in the last matches. This opportunity for Scaloni can help us keep growing."
He also denied that he has ever been offered to take the reins of the national team: "I am not the coach of the National Team because I am in a place where I feel very good. I saw (Claudio) Tapia at the Bernabéu, we talked a little, we spoke respectfully and we did not have another meeting. I did not have any proposals. It was at the River-Boca final in the Libertadores." EFE
