The Serie A is coming strong for the next season. For example, one of the Italian teams that stands out in the transfer market is Inter Milan, who managed to sign Uruguayan defender Diego Godin for free after he did not renew his contract with Atletico Madrid. The popular 'Pharaoh' wouldn't be the only surprise from the neroazzurro team, according to reports from the Italian press on Tuesday.
It turns out that La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Nicolo Barella from Cagliari is close to becoming a new reinforcement for Inter Milan. The 22-year-old midfielder had a brilliant 2018-19 season that has put him on the radar of the best teams in the Italian top division.
The aforementioned media states that Inter would reach a record figure in its history in order to have Barella's services: 48 million euros. This way, it would become the club's most expensive transfer, surpassing the 46 million euros they paid for Christian Vieri in 1999.
In the past season, the midfielder played over 3000 minutes with Cagliari and scored a goal in Serie A. The upcoming weeks are crucial to define the negotiation that will close his transfer.
On the other hand, Inter Milan is considering getting rid of two of their references: Mauro Icardi and Radja Nainggolan. Their sporting director, Beppe Marotta, announced last week that the Argentine forward and the Belgian midfielder are not part of coach Antonio Conte's plans.
