Controversial Statements by Alexander Hleb
Several players have passed through Barcelona with little or no impact, such is the case of Belarusian footballer Alexander Hleb, who played for the blaugrana club in 2008 with little success, and who now comes to the forefront with his statements against two former culés who did leave a mark. What did he say?
"Ronaldinho and Deco arrived drunk to training sessions. Do you know why Barcelona sold them in 2008? Because they were afraid they would ruin Messi," said the Belarusian on the program 'Skameika osnovij' ('The Main Bench') of 'Belorusski Futbol'.
However, Hleb's statement is quite curious, especially since a few months ago, Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, who coincided with the Belarusian at Arsenal, made similar remarks about his former teammate.
"He could have achieved more in football. He still had a great career ahead of him, but he liked to drink," emphasized Szczesny.
It is also noteworthy that Alexander Hleb, now 38 years old and still active defending BATE Borisov, made such assertions about Ronaldinho and Deco, especially considering that these players left Barcelona when he arrived from Arsenal, at the express request of Pep Guardiola.
Hleb was presented at the Catalan club on July 16, 2008, while Ronaldinho arrived at Milan on July 18 for 21 million euros plus four in variables, and Deco went to Chelsea on June 30 for 10 million euros. It is impossible for them to have trained together.
