The incredible mistake by Héctor Zeta in a Peruvian league match
Peruvian football is known for its unusual situations, which usually end up on YouTube. One of them happened in the match between Binacional and Ayacucho FC, valid for matchday 9 of the Apertura Tournament.
The incredible play happened in the 55th minute of the second half. Peruvian forward Héctor Zeta started a counterattack. He passed the ball to his teammate, Aldair Rodríguez, and went to the penalty area to receive the pass back. The former Alianza Lima player dribbled past a defender, crossed the ball and left his teammate alone, but he failed to score. He missed an open goal.
"The problem is that they didn't tell him that the ball should enter the goal, not him," joked one of the commentators during the match.
Héctor Zeta had the opportunity to redeem himself a few minutes later. The Binacional player found the ball near the edge of the penalty area, positioned himself, but his shot went wide. He couldn't make up for his mistake.
