Agreement reached in Cristiano Ronaldo's tax fraud case
The Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, the Spanish Prosecutor's Office, and the State Advocacy have reached a preliminary agreement regarding the player's tax fraud case. According to the EFE Agency, the Tax Agency has approved the agreement.
The recent addition to Juventus is obliged to pay a fine of approximately 19 million euros and will be sentenced to two years in prison. However, Ronaldo's punishment will not be effective as long as he pleads guilty to the four crimes committed.

Between 2011 and 2014, Cristiano Ronaldo defrauded 14.7 million euros, and for this reason, the tax authorities filed a complaint against the football player. The allegedly defrauded amounts are 1.39 million in 2011, 1.66 in 2012, 3.20 in 2013, and 8.5 in 2014.
The striker managed to reduce the amount to 5.7 million euros. However, the total amount will reach 19 million because he is required to pay the fine, the interest, and the State Advocacy service.
The tax authorities rejected the change in Cristiano's punishment (changing prison sentence for a fine), as even though he will not go to prison, they wanted him to have a criminal record and not be able to reoffend during that time.
