Only need to see Luka Modric to see that he is a man with a big heart. The captain of the Croatian National Team, runner-up of the world, took the time to respond, in his own handwriting, to a letter sent by a five-year-old girl who suffers from a painful illness, and who started a campaign for her message to reach the Real Madrid midfielder. Immediately became viral on Facebook.
It all started last Friday, July 20, when Iva Funtek, mother of Selena (5) who suffers from leukemia, posted on her Facebook the letter that had been written, dictated by her daughter, showing her deep admiration for the Real Madrid midfielder as well. "You are the best because you play beautifully and fairly, not like other players," the letter read, which is signed by the little girl.
The mother's request was to make the publication go viral so that it reaches Luka Modric, and she succeeded. This Monday, the Twitter account of the Croatian National Team published the response of the Balkan captain, also written on paper, in his own handwriting, and accompanied by a gift: the World Cup jersey of the Ballon d'Or winner in Russia 2018.
Below is the response letter that Luka Modric wrote:
"Dear Selena,
I received your letter and your beautiful strand of hair and I'm very happy. Just like what you do for me and for Croatia, all of us play for you, for brave fans like you is that we always give everything on the field. We fight for you.
Thank you for being with us! You and yours will always be with us. Best regards and hugs.
From the heart
Luka Modric.
