Real Betis Introduces New Signing William Carvalho

"We are completely satisfied and very excited to have William in our team. He is one of the best players in Europe in his position, a regular starter for the Portuguese national team, and we are convinced that he will be a big step forward for this future Betis that is being built," said Angel Haro, president of Real Betis, during the presentation of their star signing, Portuguese player William Carvalho.

These words perfectly reflect the feeling of a club that, after several years of ups and downs both on and off the field, seems determined to build a solid and reliable project.

In addition to the Portuguese midfielder, several other players have already joined the Andalusian capital. These include goalkeepers Joel Robles (from Everton) and Pau López (from Espanyol), left winger Takashi Inui (from Eibar), and attacking midfielder Sergio Canales (from Real Sociedad). All of them have arrived at no cost to the club, so far resulting in a total expenditure of only €21 million. This figure includes the €20 million paid for Carvalho to Sporting Portugal and the €1 million for the permanent transfer of full-back Antonio Barragán (who was on loan from Middlesbrough last season).

Although this may seem like a considerable amount for a club that has experienced serious financial problems in the past, it is worth mentioning that this figure is lower than the €46.5 million received from the sales of Antonio Adán (to Atletico Madrid), Riza Durmisi (to Lazio), Germán Pezzella (to Fiorentina), and Fabián Ruiz (to Napoli).

In terms of performance, it remains to be seen how this constant flow of new players will affect the team. However, it does not seem that the potential of the squad will be negatively impacted. In fact, if the club's leaders take advantage of the remaining transfer window to strengthen the team further, it is likely that coach Quique Setién will be able to face a season in which his team competes in three tournaments (La Liga, Copa del Rey, and Europa League) with full guarantees and the feeling of beginning a new era in the club's long history.
