Many fans of Barcelona were surprised last Sunday when the farewell of midfielder Paulinho was made official. The Brazilian left Camp Nou just one season after his arrival (he returns to Guangzhou Evergrande in the Chinese Super League on loan with an option to buy).
Why did Paulinho decide to leave Barcelona so quickly? The digital edition of Sport mentions that it is due to both sporting and economic reasons. In his first weeks in Catalonia, he gained prominence with Ernesto Valverde's team.
However, with the arrival of Philippe Coutinho in January, Paulinho found himself increasingly relegated to the bench. That's why he chose to return to Guangzhou Evergrande, where he will be a starter and is considered a star.
In addition, he will earn 15 million euros per season in the Chinese Super League. More than what he earned before leaving and also more than what he made as a Barça player (only 8 million euros).
With the 'Barza' shirt, Paulinho played 49 games and scored nine times. He won the La Liga and the Copa del Rey under Valverde.
