Chelsea's Transfer News
With just over a month left until the transfer market closes in the Premier League (on August 9th), Chelsea has yet to complete a single signing. Furthermore, at this point, it is still unknown who will be the team's manager next season. Although it was assumed that Maurizio Sarri would take charge, the current coach of the Blues is still the Italian Antonio Conte.
However, according to The Telegraph, the London club is planning to make several major moves in the coming weeks. Their main target is Russian midfielder Aleksandr Golovin, a player who has attracted the interest of numerous other clubs but could make his way to Stamford Bridge due to the close relationship between club owner Roman Abramovich and CSKA Moscow's president Yevgeny Giner.
In addition to Golovin, the British team could also bring in goalkeeper Alisson from AS Roma and defender Daniel Rugani from Juventus. Alisson would potentially replace the Belgian Thibaut Courtois, while Rugani would provide the defense with the stability it lacked last season.
To make room for these new signings and fund their transfer fees, Chelsea is considering selling Courtois, as well as other players in their current squad such as Brazilian winger Willian (who is being pursued by FC Barcelona) and English midfielder Danny Drinkwater. The Blues hope to receive around £90 million (approximately €100 million) for these two players.
