Jared Leto confirmed his participation in "Morbius", a new movie by Marvel and Sony directed by Daniel Espinosa. The plot of the film will be derived from "Spider-Man: Homecoming".
The character is a scientist who suffers from a blood disease. In his attempts to find a cure, he ends up transforming into a vampire. In the Spider-Man comics, he is shown as another villain in the long list of characters who have fought against the arachnid.
Morbius was created in 1971 for issue 101 of "The Amazing Spider-Man" by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane. This will be the first movie of a project that Sony has planned since the joint release (with Marvel) of "Spider-Man: Homecoming".
The first film of the New York hero grossed $880 million worldwide. These "spin-off" productions will begin their releases starting from July 2019 with "Morbius".
