Lately, the possibility of something we could not even dream of before has opened up: cross-play of the same title between consoles and PC. However, for now, only Fortnite could make true cross-play between platforms a reality.
EA Sports has expressed its desire for FIFA 19 to also join the list of games that have cross-play. During E3 2018, Matt Prior, creative director of EA Sports, spoke to Eurogamer about this possibility.
"We have studied this and talked about it often. There are a good number of problems to solve, and believe me, I'm being very diplomatic in saying this!" Prior commented in the interview. "There are a lot of problems when working with first-party companies, but Fortnite has allowed cross-play between PC and consoles."
"Regarding FIFA, this is something we are aware of and we know how important it is to our users. I think a shared network is something very beneficial for players... Someday!" Prior concluded in his interview.
With this statement, we may see cross-play in FIFA 19 that many developers consider for future titles. FIFA 19 will be released on September 29th for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
