The FC Barcelona has today presented the new jersey for the upcoming season, which will have ten stripes in homage to the ten districts of the City of Barcelona, and will be worn tomorrow on Sunday in the last match of the League, at Camp Nou against Real Sociedad.
The event has brought together the media at the Olympic swimming pool of Montjuïc, an iconic space from the Barcelona Games, and it has been attended by the president of the blaugrana entity, Josep Maria Bartomeu, as well as the city's mayor, Ada Colau.
The new blue and red jersey brings back the vertical stripes from one side to the other of the shirt, instead of the current one, whose narrow lines were concentrated in the center, although the new equipment stands out because it will have ten stripes.
The Brazilian Philip Coutinho has been one of the models who dressed the new jersey, which has been presented in an event where the ball, the pool, the jumps from the diving board and a performance by representatives of synchronized swimming, including Sara Gijón, bronze medalist in the 2011 Shanghai world championships, have played an important role.
The jersey appeared raised by a 'drone' from the bottom of the venue, with the city of Barcelona in the background, while a jump was synchronized by Adrià García, ten-time Spanish champion, from a ten-meter platform.
After this staging, the president of FC Barcelona, Josep Maria Bartomeu, pointed out: "From an emotional point of view, Barça owes a lot to the city, and throughout history the relationship with the city has always been splendid. We have made a jersey paying homage to the city, with stripes for each district".
"The relationship between Barça and Barcelona with this jersey will be a success. In addition, we have had a strong and successful 20-year relationship with Nike. This will continue to grow even more. With this jersey that we will debut tomorrow, we will also bid farewell to Andrés Iniesta, the player who symbolizes the values of football and the ones our club has, and are intended to promote," he concluded.
Meanwhile, the mayor of Barcelona, Ada Colau, pointed out: "It is a source of pride that Barcelona wants to strengthen the bond with the city even more, with this symbolic jersey that represents the ten districts. This is important and exciting".
