Minutes after Juan Carlos Osorio published Mexico's preliminary list, the German team congratulated Oswaldo Alanís, the "Mexican Hummels", through social media for being part of the call-up.
The German team's Spanish Twitter account responded to the Mexican team, who had posted an image with the 28 players called up by the Colombian coach for the preparation matches prior to the World Cup.
"Congratulations @matshummels!", was what the Germans wrote accompanied by a GIF of the Bayern Munich defender. Alanís and Hummels have interacted on social media due to their physical resemblance.
Mexico and Germany will face each other on June 17, in what will be the first match for both teams in the World Cup in Russia.
