UEFA to discuss Buffon's case for red card

Bad news. The Control, Ethics and Discipline Committee of UEFA will discuss the case of Gianluigi Buffon on May 31st. They hold him responsible for violating their Disciplinary Regulations due to the red card that led to his expulsion in the second leg of the quarter-finals between Juventus and Real Madrid in the Champions League.

On April 11th, when 'Juve' was leading 3-0 in stoppage time and the match was heading for extra time and a possible stunning comeback, English referee Michael Oliver awarded a penalty in favor of Madrid for a contact between Mehdi Benatia and Lucas Vázquez.

This action infuriated 'Gigi', who was then sent off at the 93rd minute after vehemently protesting the penalty, which Cristiano Ronaldo would later convert into a goal to qualify Madrid for the semi-finals. They later eliminated Bayern and secured their spot in the Champions final for the third consecutive time, where they will face Liverpool on May 26th.

"This referee has no heart. He has a garbage bag instead of a heart. If you don't have personality and courage, go to the stands and watch the match with your wife and a Sprite," declared Buffon at the time. The case will be studied on May 31st, clarified UEFA.
