Mexican goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa and his team Standard Lieja achieved a valuable victory as visitors at the Constant Vanden Stock stadium by a score of 3-1 against Anderlecht in the Belgian League playoffs.
Ochoa and his teammates played a great match on Thursday, in which the Mexican goalkeeper had several interventions and his teammates Edmilson Junior and Renaud Emond were responsible for scoring the goals that gave them the three points.
In the 48th minute, Belgian midfielder Edmilson Junior put Standard Lieja ahead on the scoreboard at 0-1; then in the 51st minute, his compatriot and forward Renaud Edmond extended the lead to 0-2.
Polish forward Lukasz Teodorczyk reduced the score to 2-1 for Anderlecht in the 63rd minute; however, Edmilson scored again in the 78th minute to make it a final score of 1-3 in favor of Ochoa's team.
With this result, Standard Lieja displaced their opponent in the table and took second place in the playoffs, just one point behind Club Brugge, the current leader of the competition, whom they will face next Sunday.
There are still two matches to play, which translates into six available points, so the dream of winning the championship and securing a spot in the UEFA Champions League is still alive in the city of Lieja.
