The coach of the Chilean National Team, Reinaldo Rueda, says that it is Claudio Bravo who must decide if he returns to the team, since he has nothing to talk about with the goalkeeper and captain of 'La Roja', who in March did not want to participate in a team tour of Europe.
In an interview published today in the newspaper 'El Mercurio', the Colombian coach stated that, given the choice between Bravo and Arturo Vidal, he prefers the midfielder from Bayern Munich. "I choose Vidal. Because of what he means to the structure of a team. Arturo has a special plus, also in the charismatic influence it has on the rest," he explained.
Bravo, player of Manchester City, conditioned his call-up to the national team in March by demanding to work with Julio Rodríguez, a goalkeeper trainer who contributed to his training at Colo Colo in Chile.
The request was rejected by Rueda, so the goalkeeper decided to exclude himself from the tour in which Chile defeated Sweden (2-1) and drew with Denmark (0-0).
"Undoubtedly, he made a mistake. He cannot put his personal interest above his responsibility as leader of the team, for his career, for everything he means to his country, for everything he means to the team and for the group," stated Rueda.
And he added that he has no pending conversation with the player: "Claudio must take his time to reflect and reconsider, if he does reconsider. We don't have much to talk about. It is a decision that he made. I have already expressed to him that we need him and that we would like him to be part of the process, but he decided not to come to the national team unless his request was accepted."
