The Frenchman Franck Ribery has renewed with Bayern Munich until 2019, while the club waits for a decision from the Dutchman Arjen Robben, who also has an offer to renew for twelve more months.
Franck Ribery, 35 years old, joined Bayern Munich in 2007 and since then has been German champion eight times, equaling the record of Bastian Schweinsteiger, Mehmet Scholl and Oliver Kahn.
"I am proud to play one more year for this great club. Munich has become a new homeland for me and my family," said Franck Ribery through the club's website.
"We are pleased that Franck will stay with us," said the sports director of Bayern, Hasan Salihamidzic.
"Franck has shown once again this season, both in the Bundesliga and in the Champions League and the German Cup, what he can bring to the team. He is also one of the favorites of the fans," he added.
Franck Ribery, along with Arjen Robben, has made an era in Bayern and the two were key in winning the 2012-2013 Champions League. Robben, 34, has asked for time to make a decision about his future and, according to the Munich newspaper TZ, has another offer.
