Inter Milan defeats Udinese 4-0 in the Serie A
The Hispanic-Brazilian Rafinha Alcantara, the Spanish Borja Valero, and the Argentine Mauro Icardi scored on Sunday in Inter Milan's 4-0 victory over Udinese in Serie A (First Division), which allowed the Milanese to temporarily move within one point of the Champions League zone.
In the match that opened Sunday's program for the thirty-sixth round of Serie A, Inter reacted after last week's defeat against Juventus and increased the pressure on Roma and Lazio, who share the third position.
With two rounds left in the championship, Inter needs to win all the remaining points to have a chance of reaching the fourth place, which grants direct access to the group stage of the next Champions League.
This Sunday, Inter never gave Udinese a chance and secured a comfortable victory in the first half, obtaining a resounding 3-0 lead thanks to Andrea Ranocchia (m.12), former Barcelona player Rafinha (m.44), and their captain, Mauro Icardi (m.45).
It was a perfect day for Rafinha, who hadn't scored since an Atletico Madrid-Barcelona match on February 26, 2017, and for Icardi, who has 28 league goals and is only one goal away from the tournament's top scorer, Lazio's forward Ciro Immobile.
Udinese, who has only obtained one point in the last twelve rounds, was reduced to ten men after the expulsion of Frenchman Seko Fofana at the start of the second half and ended up succumbing to the definitive 4-0 goal scored by Borja Valero (m.71).
After this victory, Inter moved within one point of Lazio, who will host Atalanta on Sunday, and Roma, who will visit Cagliari in Sardinia, also on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Udinese suffered their twelfth defeat in the last thirteen rounds and only has a three-point margin over the relegation zone, with one more match played.
