Lisbon, (EFE).- Sporting de Portugal beats Portimonense away 1-2, so they tie with Benfica, which is in second place, a highly coveted position for both teams as it grants access to the Champions League qualifying round.
The game started well for Sporting in the 23rd minute, thanks to a goal from one of the revelations of the Portuguese competition, the young Portuguese midfielder Bruno Fernandes.
However, despite the Lions' dominance, Portimonense managed to react and equalized in the 42nd minute, thanks to a goal from Brazilian forward Frabício.
The joy for Sporting came towards the end of the game when, in the 90th minute, Bruno Fernandes once again put Sporting ahead and sealed the final 1-2 score with an excellent shot from outside the box.
This way, Benfica and Sporting are tied on points and share the second position with 77 points, two points behind Porto, who has yet to play their match this round.
This victory adds excitement to the match between Sporting and Benfica next weekend, as the winner will likely secure the second position and, therefore, obtain direct access to the Champions League qualifying round.
Porto will play tomorrow in Funchal against Marítimo in their match corresponding to the 32nd round, and if they win, they will have a good chance of securing the league title. Currently, Porto is leading with 79 points, two points ahead of Benfica and Sporting, albeit with one game less played.
