UEFA Decides Not to Sanction Sergio Ramos for Watching Real Madrid vs Juventus Duel from the Tunnel
The UEFA Disciplinary Committee has decided not to sanction Sergio Ramos for watching the final stages of the Real Madrid vs Juventus match from the tunnel.
Emilio Butragueño, director of institutional relations at the Spanish club, confirmed this today in Nyon, after the draw for the UEFA Champions League semi-finals, which pitted Real Madrid against Bayern Munich.
"UEFA has informed us that they will not open a case against Ramos because there is no reason to do so," said Butragueño.
The Real Madrid captain, who missed the second leg of the quarterfinals against Juventus due to suspension, will be able to play in the semi-finals against the Germans.
Ramos was under the threat of punishment for watching the final minutes of the match against the Italians from the tunnel. However, the UEFA regulations, which specify that a suspended player cannot be at field level, are not as clear when it comes to establishing whether the same applies to the tunnel and the dressing room.
