The Best Coach in the World, According to Ronald Koeman
Ronald Koeman, the new coach of the Netherlands national team, was fortunate to be coached by his compatriot Johan Cruyff, the man who revolutionized football in his time. However, he believes that there is someone who has surpassed him and states it with total certainty.
"In my opinion, Pep Guardiola is the best coach in the world," he says without a hint of doubt. "The football he has brought to England is sensational. He brings out the best in each player. And all his teams have played fantastic football. He did it at Barcelona, at Bayern Munich, and now at City," he argued.
Surpassed his mentor
For Ronald Koeman, Guardiola far exceeded the bar set by the legendary Johan Cruyff. "Pep has taken Cruyff's ideas to the extreme. His tactical plans start with the goalkeeper and the attack with his full-backs turned into wingers. He always has players on the inside and outside of the field, everyone can create a situation of superiority with an extra man to combine," he explained.
"The football that Pep wants his teams to play is the most difficult at a top level. It is fantastic to watch, and I cannot emphasize enough how much we should all admire it," said the former FC Barcelona player.
