Ecuador's El Clásico
Emelec and Barcelona would have important absences for their upcoming match in the first El Clásico of the 2018 season, which will take place at the Monumental Stadium.
In the blue team, Juan Carlos Paredes left the match against Técnico Universitario due to an injury in the 34th minute. The right back felt pain after making a wrong movement. He tried to continue playing, actually went back to the field, but couldn't bear the pain in his left leg. Hólger Matamoros substituted him.
"The injuries of Ayrton Preciado and now Juan Carlos Paredes affect us a lot," said Emelec's coach, Alfredo Arias, after the game in Ambato.
Ayrton Preciado is a case that didn't happen on the field, since the offensive winger was called up to travel to Ambato, but did not play or was among the blue substitutes.
In Barcelona, Ely Esterilla was affected, who had to leave the field in the 7th minute due to a thigh pain in his left leg. The medical staff tried to recover him, however, the Canario winger asked for a substitution. Michael Arroyo replaced him.
Not only Paredes would be absent next Sunday, Emelec has Osbaldo Lastra, Pedro Quiñónez, Nelson Soliz, and Jefferson Montero in cotton wool.
