The Arsenal coach says he can accept criticism for his results, but it is difficult to accept being judged by his age.

Arsene Wenger has revealed that he can accept criticism for his results, but believes he is the object of "age discrimination", as new speculations arise about his future at Arsenal.

Former Borussia Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel has been closely linked to a move to the Emirates Stadium next season, suggesting that Wenger is destined to leave the club in the summer despite having a contract that runs until 2019.

In an interview with BeIN Sport, the 68-year-old coach responded to his critics, saying he was particularly upset with claims that his age is the cause of Arsenal's decline.

"You focus on doing things well for your club and ignore everything else," he said. "In general, the older you get, the more it becomes a bit of age discrimination.

"I can accept that if the results are not good enough we are in a job where we have to deal with the consequences, but in general, the ongoing issue of a link to the time you have been at the club, the age you have, I find that a bit hard to accept.

"Everything else I accept. I'm in a public job where I have to deliver results and I'm responsible for them."

Wenger also said that a possible victory in the Europa League and subsequent qualification for the Champions League would not change his opinion on the contribution he has given to the club over the years, and that he does not care much about his public image.

"I'm not too concerned [about my public image]," he added. "I focus on working with the values that are important, to give my best for the club.

"I'm naive enough to believe that over time, perspective, emotional context, what I have done for my club will stand out, not so much the last result or the last game I won or how much I've been applauded."

"I'm a bit tired of all that modern caring about your image. I've always worked my whole life with the idea that who you are is more important than how you look."

Arsenal will face CSKA Moscow in the quarterfinals of the Europa League next month and are among the favorites to lift the trophy in Lyon on May 16th.
