Maurizio Sarri has already started working with an eye on the next season.

The Italian coach has guaranteed the Napoli board that he will continue leading the team beyond the current season. He has already sent them a list of a good number of players who are suitable to strengthen a squad that will have to compete in both Serie A and the Champions League.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the coach wants at least 15 players in his next squad who can be considered as "first-choice". That's why he is targeting top-level goalkeepers like Mattia Perin (Genoa), Bernd Leno (Bayer Leverkusen), Alex Meret (Spal), Alessio Cragno (Cagliari), and Simon Mignolet (Liverpool); defenders such as Alex Grimaldo (Benfica), Jeremy Toljan (Borussia Dortmund), and Sime Vrsaljko (Atletico Madrid); midfielders with talent like Denis Suarez (FC Barcelona), Mateo Kovacic (Real Madrid), Davy Klaassen (Everton), Lucas Torreira, and Dennis Praet (both from Sampdoria); and versatile attackers like Simone Verdi (Bologna), Amin Younes (Ajax), Luciano Vietto (Atletico Madrid, on loan to Valencia), and Federico Chiesa (Fiorentina).

Naturally, in order to make room for some of these players, the club will have to get rid of some from the current squad. In this sense, the newspaper suggests that Spanish goalkeeper Pepe Reina; defenders Kalidou Koulibaly and Faouzi Ghoulam; midfielders Amadou Diawara and Jorginho; and forward Dries Mertens could be potential candidates to leave.

By the way, other Spanish and Italian media sources would add another Spanish player to Sarri's endless wishlist: left-back Aarón Martin. The 20-year-old Catalan defender has experienced a sensational progression since he joined Espanyol's first team, and multiple teams have already shown interest in signing him.
