At least one man killed and four injured in a fight between fans of Santos and Corinthians
At least one man was beaten to death and four others were injured on Sunday in a fight between fans of Santos and Corinthians in a municipality near Sao Paulo, which resulted in the arrest of 21 people, according to official sources.
The confrontation started on Almiro Dias Avenue, in the municipality of Itaquaquecetuba, located about 50 minutes from Sao Paulo, when a bus carrying Santos fans was attacked by several vehicles carrying Corinthians supporters.
The bus was heading to a fraternity meeting before the classic match scheduled for Sunday afternoon at Pacaembu stadium in Sao Paulo, the most populous city in Brazil.
A 31-year-old man, who was severely beaten and seriously injured, was taken to Santa Marcelina hospital where he died, according to information released by the authorities.
Four more people were injured, three vehicles were damaged, and a motorcycle was set on fire.
