It seems that Antonio Conte's adventure at Chelsea will end earlier than expected.
The few options for the Blues to retain the Premier League title - 22 points behind leader Manchester City - and only with the Champions League ahead - although with a very tough match against Barcelona - the London team is already thinking about his replacement.
According to 'The Sun', club owner Roman Abramovich has already chosen the replacement and it would be one of the Blues' glories, Frank Lampard. However, the Russian will not incorporate the former English National Team captain immediately, but has a long-term plan for him to stay on the bench as head coach.
Thus, Lampard would start as part of Conte's staff, and then continue in that role with the incoming coach, whether it be Carlo Ancelotti or Luis Enrique, or any rumored coach. Similar to what Florentino Pérez did with Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid.
The former English player has not managed any professional team, and in the last year he has been an assistant to Jodie Morris in the U18 squad. Although it is worth mentioning, Lampard holds the highest UEFA license to coach.
As for Conte, his departure would not only be due to the poor campaign, but also to a breakdown in the relationship with the squad. It all started with the clash with Diego Costa, who went to Atlético Madrid, and then leaving David Luiz, one of the leaders in the dressing room, sidelined.
