Pep Guardiola wore a yellow ribbon during the League Cup final between Manchester City and Arsenal, ignoring the warning from the English Football Association (FA).
The FA opened a case against the Spanish coach for wearing the yellow ribbon, which has become a symbol of protest for Catalan separatists demanding the freedom of 'Jordis' - Jordi Sánchez and Jordi Cuixart - who have been in prison for over four months, as well as Joaquim Forn and Oriol Junqueras, who have been imprisoned since November 2nd on charges of rebellion, sedition, and embezzlement of funds.

The English football's governing body had already warned Pep Guardiola about the use of symbols with political backgrounds, which violates the federation's rules, although the coach has always stated that he doesn't care about being suspended for this reason.
In a statement, the FA detailed that Guardiola had displayed a "political message" on his attire, specifically a yellow ribbon, and gave him until Monday, March 5th to respond to that charge.
In addition to matches in the Premier League, FA Cup, and League Cup, Pep Guardiola also wore the yellow ribbon in press conferences and Champions League matches, but UEFA has not seen reason to sanction him.
On Sunday, the Catalonia Defense Committee (CDR) in London distributed yellow ribbons near Wembley Stadium before the League Cup final between Manchester City and Arsenal.
A group of ten CDR members, carrying plastic bags, made 6,000 ribbons to give away to interested fans.
