The Paris Saint Germain (PSG) reported today that the Brazilian Neymar did not train with the rest of his teammates on Friday due to a "viral syndrome" for which no further details were given.
The club also reported that Italian midfielder Marco Verratti did not train due to "abdominal pain" and that Spanish player Yuri Berchiche "felt a pain in his right thigh" at the end of the training.
At a press conference held today, PSG coach Unai Emery had warned that Neymar was doubtful for Sunday's league match against Olympique de Marseille. Emery stated that the Brazilian was "sick", without providing further details.
PSG faces a double clash with Marseille, in the league on Sunday and in the Cup on Wednesday, February 28, both at the Parc des Princes, and another league match against Troyes before receiving Real Madrid on March 6 in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16.
If Neymar is finally able to play against Marseille, the coach predicted that the Brazilian international will not repeat the mistakes of the first leg match against Marseille, when he was sent off for two yellow cards.
"He is intelligent and learns from individual and collective experiences to not make the same mistakes. He will be very prepared to play a great match," added the Basque coach. EFE
