Marco Reus played his first game of the season, Michy Batshuayi scored again, and Borussia Dortmund climbed to third place in the Bundesliga with a 2-0 victory over Hamburgo on Saturday.
Reus was the captain of Dortmund in his first game, 259 days after he tore his knee ligament in May of last year in the final of the German Cup. Now, his main goal is to string together games and be able to go to the 2018 World Cup with the German national team.
Batshuayi scored in the 49th minute, with a cross from the American Christian Pulisic, to score his third goal in two games since arriving on loan from Chelsea. Mario Goetze scored the second goal in injury time. Hamburgo remained in penultimate place, three points behind Mainz, who lost 4-2 to Hoffenheim. The victory allows Dortmund to move up to third place, taking advantage of Bayer Leverkusen, now in fifth place, who lost 2-0 at their stadium against Hertha Berlin (11th).
