Barcelona dominated on Thursday throughout the match against Valencia, but only took the lead when Uruguayan Luis Suarez scored a header to give his team a 1-0 victory in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semifinals. The culés did not escape the funny memes on Facebook.

The defending champion, seeking to reach its fifth consecutive final in the Copa, was superior and had overwhelming ball possession, but did not create many clear chances to score in their stadium.

In the second half, a brilliant play by Lionel Messi on the left at 66 minutes ended with a cross that Suarez headed home to score the only goal of the match. The Uruguayan striker scored his twelfth goal in ten games in all competitions.

"It is a minimal advantage that we have but there are still 90 minutes left. Valencia is always strong at home, especially in a Copa semifinal," said Suarez to local television after the match.
