Barcelona player Arda Turan to join Istanbul Basaksehir
Turkish player Arda Turan from Barcelona will be loaned to Istanbul Basaksehir, after an agreement reached by both clubs, as reported by the Catalan club on Saturday.
"FC Barcelona and Istanbul Basaksehir FK have reached an agreement for the loan of player Arda Turan for the remaining season and two more," stated Barça in a press release.
During this time, Barcelona retains the possibility of transferring the midfielder "during UEFA windows, and will receive a variable fee based on his performance". Basaksehir, on the other hand, reserves an option to buy the Turkish player.
Arda Turan arrived at Barcelona in the summer of 2015 for 34 million euros, coming from Atletico Madrid, but the FIFA sanction against Barça at that time prevented him from debuting until January 2016.
The 30-year-old Turkish player has declined over time at the Catalan club, where this season, coach Ernesto Valverde has not counted on him for any matches.
In the two and a half seasons that Arda has been at Barcelona, he has played 55 matches and scored 15 goals, winning six titles (1 league, 2 Copa del Rey, 1 Spanish Super Cup, 1 Club World Cup, and 1 UEFA Super Cup).
Turan becomes the first player to leave Barça in this winter market, where the Catalan club has acquired the services of Colombian defender Yerry Mina, who will be presented on Saturday, and Brazilian Philippe Coutinho.
