Real Madrid's Fabio Coentrao becomes viral on YouTube after a match against Benfica
In his early years with Real Madrid, Fabio Coentrao had an acceptable level. He even started under Carlo Ancelotti, but as months went by, his performance dropped and Marcelo became the starting player. Now, the former Real Madrid full-back is playing for Sporting Club in his country and this week he became viral on YouTube, although not precisely because of a goal or an assist.
It turns out that in the middle of this week, one of the derbies between the defender's team and Benfica took place at the Estádio do Sport in Lisbon. When trying to take a throw-in, the former AS Monaco player was almost hit by an object and despite that, he held his head and ankle.
As the images spread on the YouTube platform, Coentrao received a barrage of criticism on social media for his actions. Beyond being the target of an attempted aggression, he set a bad example in his country's football by feigning.
On the football side, Sporting and Benfica drew 1-1 in the 16th round of the Primeira Liga. With this result, the 'Leones' are in second place in the local championship with 40 points, two units behind the leader Porto.
