The Milan denies rumors about Bonucci leaving the club
On Thursday, Milan denied the rumors spread by the Italian press about a possible interest from FC Barcelona or Manchester City to acquire the Italian international defender, Leonardo Bonucci.
Milan defined these suppositions as "really unacceptable deductions" through a note published on its website, emphasizing that the player "fully believes in the project" of the club he joined this summer.
"This demonstrates that the stories before Christmas are based absolutely on nothing. The 'rossonero' captain is working hard, like all his teammates, in the concentration, to come out with all the Milan from a very negative position on the table," the club published.
The note from Milan was disseminated after several Italian sports media outlets claimed on Thursday that Leonardo Bonucci is "tempted" by the idea of playing the next Champions League in clubs like FC Barcelona or Manchester City under Spanish coach Pep Guardiola.
Among them, the newspaper "Corriere dello Sport" published an article stating that FC Barcelona is "ready" to replace a possible departure of Argentine Javier Mascherano with Leonardo Bonucci himself.
