The Borussia Dortmund dismisses Peter Bosz as coach
Borussia Dortmund fired its coach Peter Bosz, after two and a half months of crisis of results, and named Peter Stöger, dismissed from Colonia, in his position, announced the club director Hans-Joachim Watzke.
Bosz did not survive the home defeat against Werder Bremen (2-1) in the 15th matchday of the Bundesliga. Stöger was dismissed from Colonia when his team finished last, with no victories in 14 matchdays.
"On Saturday night we had a conversation with Peter Bosz, and we decided to relieve him of his duties," Watzke told the press. "Peter Bosz received our decision with a lot of class," he added.
"The current situation is not what we imagined for Borussia," said its CEO.
The club from the Ruhr region will play its next match on Tuesday in Mainz, in the 16th matchday of the Bundesliga. Watzke thanked Peter Bosz, whom he described as a "great coach" and a "remarkable person".
Michael Zorc, Dortmund's sporting director, was in charge of explaining the choice of Peter Stoger: "In Cologne, he led the club during several years of work, and gave great stability to his team," he said. "It is that stability that we need."
"There is no doubt that our team can play excellent football, but we lack defensive stability, that is what we expect from Peter Stoger in the second half of the season," added Michael Zorc.
