Inexplicable
Christian Cueva could be sanctioned despite the club president indicating otherwise. According to the 'Globoesporte' newspaper, the same one that published the statements of the São Paulo boss, it was reported that the board would impose a sanction.
The journalist Marcelo Prado is the one who states that the Peruvian will receive a sanction. However, Christian Cueva was included in the list of players called up for the match against Botafogo and played for 30 minutes.
The words of the president were clear. He stated that the Peruvian would not be subjected to a fine or sanction by the team he manages.
"It happened that he experienced one of the great moments in the history of Peruvian football. After 36 years, Peru returned to the World Cup. The president decreed a national holiday there. There was an absolutely natural celebration. Whether he will play or not, I don't know. That is a decision of the technical committee. The justification (for him not notifying) is that he arrived after yesterday's training. As for a fine, there is no deliberation for that."
These words generate confusion that is expected to be clarified in the following hours for the sake of the player and his fans.
