The Different Paths of Jesé Rodríguez and Álvaro Morata
During Carlo Ancelotti's first season at Real Madrid, both players established themselves in the first team after being debuted by José Mourinho in previous years. And then, just like in the previous years in the lower categories, things were different.
In the 2013-2014 season, Jesé Rodríguez was the promising academy player until an injury suffered against Schalke 04 with Sead Kolasinac as the protagonist abruptly halted his trajectory. Meanwhile, Álvaro Morata struggled to make a difference when he had opportunities. Both players scored 9 goals in that campaign.
Then, Morata was transferred to Juventus and was able to thrive in Italy, as we have already seen. Meanwhile, Jesé remained at Real Madrid and never regained his form, as he didn't manage to convince until his transfer to PSG in 2016, followed by loan spells at UD Las Palmas and now Stoke City.
Now the two Madrid academy graduates coincide in the Premier League, where Jesé has only played in 7 matches (scoring 1 goal) for a modest team like Stoke City. On the other hand, Morata, despite being sidelined until mid-November, is already one of the main figures of Chelsea with 6 goals in 8 matches.
Both players came from La Fábrica (Real Madrid's youth academy) and have taken different paths, but right now there is a big difference between the two goal scorers. Jesé fails to be decisive, while Morata is on track to become one of the stars of the Premier League.
