Zinedine Zidane Receives FIFA The Best Award for Best Coach
More awards keep coming for one of the best French players in history, now as a coach. Zinedine Zidane, coach of Real Madrid, received the FIFA The Best award for best coach of the previous season on Monday in London.
The French manager, who finished second last year, beat out Italians Massimiliano Allegri (Juventus) and Antonio Conte (Chelsea), after a campaign in which Real Madrid won the Spanish League, Champions League, and the Spanish and European Super Cups.
Zidane succeeds Italian Claudio Ranieri, who now manages Nantes, and who two years ago guided the modest Leicester City to the Premier League title against all odds.
"This trophy is crazy and means many things. It is an honor to be here, it is something incredible; I never thought I would receive something so important. I want to thank the players; it is thanks to them that there is a spectacle," Zidane said excitedly.
The award was presented to the French coach on Monday at the London Palladium by last year's winner, Ranieri himself.
