Andrés Iniesta joins voices calling for dialogue to solve the situation in Catalonia

The midfielder for Barcelona and the Spanish national team, Andrés Iniesta, has joined the voices calling for dialogue to solve the situation in Catalonia.

"I have never done it and I will never do it, publicly evaluate such complex situations with such diverse feelings, but this situation we are currently experiencing is exceptional, and one thing I'm sure of, before we hurt ourselves more: Dialogue, the responsible ones for all should dialogue", Iniesta requested in a message on social media.

"Do it for all of us. We deserve to live in peace," concluded the Barcelona captain on his Facebook profile, who has been absent from the national team due to injury.

This plea from a usually discreet player comes after his Barcelona and national team teammate, Gerard Piqué, also called for dialogue.

"I believe that through dialogue and respect we always reach a good outcome," stated the Barcelona defender, asking the politicians to "do their job and solve this problem".

Events in the region escalated following an independence referendum on Sunday, considered illegal by the Spanish justice, but in which over 90% of voters, according to Catalan President Carles Puigdemont's government, voted in favor of breaking away from Spain, with a participation of just over 42%.
