Alex Morgan Announces Departure from Lyon
American star Alex Morgan has announced that she has reached an agreement "to terminate" her contract with Lyon to continue playing for the Orlando Pride, as announced on the club's website on Sunday.
"From a football perspective, I have achieved the goals I set for myself when I went to Lyon. I am very grateful for the opportunity to have played for Lyon and I will always be grateful for that opportunity," stated Morgan, as quoted in the official statement.

"I reached an agreement with Lyon to terminate my contract and continue at Orlando Pride to progress," added the 27-year-old forward, who posted a photo of herself on Twitter wearing a white shirt that reads "Merci" (Thank you in French).

The signing of Alex Morgan, considered one of the biggest stars in women's football, a year ago was a great sporting and commercial coup for Lyon. With her, the French club achieved the league-cup-Champions League treble.
