The best player in the last UEFA Europa League was Paul Pogba
The French midfielder of Manchester United, Paul Pogba, was awarded as the best player in the last Europa League, surpassing his teammates Zlatan Ibrahimovic (SWE) and Henrikh Mkhitaryan (ARM), who were the other contenders.
Pogba, who scored one of the two goals in Manchester's victory over Ajax Amsterdam in the final played in Stockholm (2-0), played 15 matches in the previous Europa League campaign, scored three goals, and provided one assist.
The player, who did not attend the draw for the group stage of the competition in Monte Carlo last Friday, previously received the award in this city from the hands of the UEFA president, Slovenian Aleksander Ceferin, alongside whom he presented the organization's "Respect" campaign two days ago.
Pogba was chosen as the best player by the coaches of the 48 clubs that played in the group stage and by 55 journalists selected by the European Sports Media (ESM) group, representing each of UEFA's member federations.
Ibrahimovic, who played 11 matches in the competition, scored five goals, including a hat-trick in the round of 16 against French side Saint-Etienne, and provided four assists. The Swedish player got injured in the second leg of the following round and missed the rest of the season.
Mkhitaryan participated in eleven matches and scored six goals, two fewer than the competition's top scorer, Bosnian forward Edin Dzeko from Roma.
