Lateral Lucas Digne praises Andrés Iniesta and Lionel Messi

French left-back Lucas Digne from Barcelona praised his colleagues Andrés Iniesta and Lionel Messi and acknowledged that the physical demand for Barcelona defenders is higher due to their attacking tendency.

"If you don't know what to do with the ball, you give it to Iniesta (...) He's calm, elegant. When he speaks, everyone listens to him. He's a true gentleman," appreciated Digne in an interview published today in the magazine "France Football".

And what about Lionel Messi?

"Open, friendly, willing to chat. He's someone you can enjoy the day-to-day with. Occasionally, we get together to play basketball," explained Lucas Digne, who practices this sport with players like the German goalkeeper Marc-André Ter Stegen, the Croatian Rakitic, Aleix Vidal, Jordi Alba, and Sergio Busquets.

The left-back, who gave the interview before the August 17 attack on La Rambla in Barcelona, when he came down from his home to help the victims, explained that Barcelona's offensive scheme requires more physically from the defenders.

"There are many one-on-ones, we are up on many occasions (...) It's very enjoyable to play like this, although it is true that it demands a lot physically," he concluded.
