Swimmer Fernando Álvarez protagonized one of the most emotional scenes of the World Masters Championship held in Budapest, as the veteran athlete put the mourning of his country before the actual results of a competition.

When all the competitors were about to dive into the pool, Fernando stayed on the diving board to observe a minute of silence in honor of the victims of the terrorist attack perpetrated in Barcelona.

The images quickly spread on social media.
